TECNO is preparing to take a major step in mobile AI by integrating OpenClaw into its smart assistant, introducing a more advanced, task-oriented experience on smartphones. The upcoming feature, called EllaClaw, will combine TECNO’s existing assistant “Ella” with OpenClaw’s agentic capabilities enabling the system to not just respond to commands, but actively execute tasks on behalf of the user. OpenClaw has gained attention for its ability to automate workflows, analyze files, and perform actions across systems using natural language prompts. Peter Steinberger, the developer behind the viral AI assistant OpenClaw, has officially joined OpenAI. The assistant was later renamed OpenClaw after Steinberger decided the name better reflected the project’s identity. In a blog post announcing his move, Steinberger said that while OpenClaw could potentially have grown into a large standalone company, that path did not align with his personal ambitions. As for OpenClaw itself, Altman said the project will transition into a foundation-run open source initiative, with continued support from OpenAI.
