TECNO to bring OpenClaw-powered AI agent to their smartphones

Listen to article

TECNO is preparing to take a major step in mobile AI by integrating OpenClaw into its smart assistant, introducing a more advanced, task-oriented experience on smartphones.

The upcoming feature, called EllaClaw, will combine TECNO’s existing assistant “Ella” with OpenClaw’s agentic capabilities enabling the system to not just respond to commands, but actively execute tasks on behalf of the user.

OpenClaw has gained attention for its ability to automate workflows, analyze files, and perform actions across systems using natural language prompts. Traditionally, it required a dedicated machine to run. TECNO’s approach aims to bring those capabilities directly to smartphones, making AI assistance more accessible and practical for everyday use.

With EllaClaw, users can expect multiple levels of automation. At a basic level, the assistant will be able to handle routine tasks such as scheduling events, organizing files, and managing background processes. At a deeper level, it can interact across system apps including messages, gallery, and calendar allowing it to combine information and provide contextual suggestions.

This cross-app intelligence mirrors emerging “agentic AI” trends seen in other platforms, where assistants move beyond simple queries to proactively assist users. Over time, the system is also expected to learn user habits and preferences, improving how it responds and increasing the number of tasks it can automate.

TECNO is reportedly planning to roll out EllaClaw through a beta program, allowing select users to test the feature ahead of a wider release. However, details such as availability, supported devices, and whether processing will be handled fully on-device or partially via the cloud have yet to be confirmed.

As AI continues to evolve from passive assistants to active digital agents, TECNO’s move signals a shift toward more autonomous smartphone experiences — where devices don’t just assist, but act.
