Qualcomm Chief Marketing Officer Don McGuire shared on X that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will feature custom ‘Oryon’ CPU cores. For years, the chipmaker has been using Kryo CPU cores and this year’s Snapdragon flagship chip will see a new CPU design. Last year, the Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon X Elite, an Arm-based chipset for PCs, boasting the said Oryon CPU. During the Snapdragon Summit 2022, Qualcomm unveiled the name of our next-generation CPU for Snapdragon platforms -- Qualcomm Oryon. This is Qualcomm's newly-designed custom CPU core. With the Oryon CPU, Qualcomm will design and create its own CPU in the hopes of producing more powerful and efficient chipsets. Qualcomm also announced earlier this week the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset which is still based on the Kyro CPU.
