The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has announced that it will be shortening the routes of provincial buses. Under the new policy, northbound provincial buses will end their route at an interim bus terminal in Sta. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that beginning April this year, provincial buses are no longer allowed on EDSA. MMDA will start to restrict provincial buses traveling in EDSA in mid-July to prevent massive traffic that would occur due to the road projects currently in construction this month. Provincial buses will not be barred from traveling in EDSA completely as they will only be restricted on a specific weekly timeslot. Starting on July 15, 2018, Northbound and Southbound provincial buses cannot traverse Cubao to Pasay sections of the Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) from 5:00 am to 10:00 am and 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on weekdays. Provincial buses would be exempted, however, from the number coding scheme during the said time slots. Joining in the UV Express vans on the list of unwelcomed vehicles in EDSA are the provincial buses, according to a new memorandum issued by the Metro Manila Council (MMC).
