The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has announced the latest update to the Qi wireless charging standard with Qi2 25W (Qi v2.2.1). This reflects via its charging rate, which is now 25W going up from 15W. Qi2 25W marks the first time ‘major Android smartphones’ are going to support the updated Qi2 ecosystem. This is in reference to iPhones, which already support the magnetic-based Qi2-compatible system. Either way, the arrival of Qi2 25W aims to improve wireless charging with speed and reliability across different ecosystems. This positions Qi2 25W as a welcome upgrade for users needing more efficient, cable-free power delivery.
