A month after Qualcomm unveiled its new flagship mobile processor, the chipmaker followed it up by announcing four new members of the lower-tier Snapdragon family which are expected to make its way to mobile devices starting on the second half of this year. The other two processors, on the other hand, belong to the Snapdragon 600 family which comprises Snapdragon 618 and the Snapdragon 620. When the going gets tough, a set of new 1.8Ghz Cortex-A72 chips will do the dirty work for the new Snapdragon 600 processors. All of Qualcomm’s new processor are LTE-capable, albeit the Snapdragon 415 only has Qualcomm X5 LTE module which is peaks at 150Mbps DL and 50Mbps UL, while the rest of the gang are equipped with a Qualcomm X8 LTE modem which are capable of download and upload speeds of up to 300Mbps and 100Mbps respectively. Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon C platform, a new processor designed for entry-level laptops priced starting at around USD 300. Qualcomm said laptops powered by Snapdragon C are expected to launch later this year from brands including Acer, HP, and Lenovo. Meanwhile, Acer’s higher-end Swift Spin 14 AI uses Snapdragon X2 Elite or X2 Plus processors and supports Copilot+ PC features.
