Qualcomm has announced a more powerful variant of the flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset built for gaming, the Snapdragon 855+. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 855+ is built for speed and enhanced performance. It features a Qualcomm Kryo 485 CPU Prime clocked at 2.96GHz, while the Adreno 640 GPU delivers up to 15% faster graphics rendering compared to the standard Snapdragon 855. Other features include 4th-gen on-device AI engine using the Qualcomm Hexagon 690 processor with support for XR(virtual reality/augmented reality) applications, Snapdragon X50 modem for 5G connectivity, Qualcomm aptX Audio, Qualcomm Aqstic, and support for True HDR. On board, it uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, and OnePlus says it brings noticeable speed gains over the last generation. Meanwhile, Acer’s higher-end Swift Spin 14 AI uses Snapdragon X2 Elite or X2 Plus processors and supports Copilot+ PC features. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 includes AI-powered camera features, Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 for gaming, up to 21% better GPU performanc, and support for Wi-Fi 7 and ultra-fast 5G connectivity. OnePlus officially unveiled the OnePlus Pad 4 in India, carrying Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
