Qualcomm has unveiled a follow-on to the flagship Snapdragon 888— the Snapdragon 888+ 5G mobile platform. According to Qualcomm, Snapdragon 888+ 5G delivers flagship experiences with intelligent entertainment, including AI-enhanced gameplay, streaming, photography, and the like– backed by boosted performance, unrivaled speed, and premium connectivity. With over 20% AI performance upgrade compared to its predecessor, Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon 888+ sports an increased Qualcomm Kryo 680 CPU Prime core clock speed at up to 3.0 GHz and the 6th generation Qualcomm AI Engine with up to 32 TOPS AI performance. Commercial devices that run under the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G are expected to be unveiled in Q3 2021. According to Qualcomm, upcoming devices powered by Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 will come from brands including HONOR and REDMI. Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon Wear Elite, a new processor designed for smartwatches and other wearable devices, bringing on-device AI features along with improved performance and battery life.
