In a report by the Nikkei Asian Review, South Korea's Samsung Electronics and China's Huawei Technologies are at the forefront of 6G development, especially in the base stations that will form the backbone of the future network. South Korea aims to be the first country to launch 6G commercial services with Samsung and LG Electronics already setting up research centers. The much awaited Omnia i900 from Samsung (see specs here) was released in the Philippines yesterday. While everybody is getting frustrated with the supposed Globe iPhone 3G pricing, the Samsung Omnia will definitely be a formidable alternative to the former. The rumored new Samsung i8510 that tows in an 8-megapixel camera and a 16GB internal storage becomes official. This new Samsung i8510 phone will be named Innovate or Innov8. I reckon that the Samsung i8510 is positioned against the Nokia N95 while the Omnia is targetted as an iPhone alternative. LCD monitors from Samsung are getting better and better.
