Samsung has revealed Low-Power Double Data Rate 6 (LPDDR6) RAM which has already received an award. This offers around 21% better energy efficiency than its predecessor, LPDDR5 RAM. Samsung has announced that LPDDR6 has already received the CES 2026 Innovation Award Honoree under Mobile Devices, Accessories & Apps. Other devices under Samsung that have this award are the Galaxy XR, Galaxy Z Fold7, and Galaxy Watch8 under their respective categories. There is no word on which device will be the first to have LPDDR6 RAM. Samsung has announced their 0.65mm-thin LPDDR5X DRAM made for smartphones. These are 12nm chips slated to be available with 12GB or 16GB, designed for the low-power RAM market. This is built in a 4-stack structure with four layers together consisting of two RAM sticks.
