Samsung revealed an AMOLED and WiFi-capabled point-and-shoot camera during CES this year (Samsung ST5500). Though I still have not tried that model, we had a chance to use its little brother, the Samsung ST5000. The Samsung ST5000 skipped the AMOLED screen and the WiFi capabilities altogether of the ST5500 so it can be offered at a much lower price (quick survey around puts the store price at about Php19,990). The much awaited Omnia i900 from Samsung (see specs here) was released in the Philippines yesterday. While everybody is getting frustrated with the supposed Globe iPhone 3G pricing, the Samsung Omnia will definitely be a formidable alternative to the former. The rumored new Samsung i8510 that tows in an 8-megapixel camera and a 16GB internal storage becomes official. This new Samsung i8510 phone will be named Innovate or Innov8. I reckon that the Samsung i8510 is positioned against the Nokia N95 while the Omnia is targetted as an iPhone alternative.
