Sega Sammy has recently announced that it is selling its remaining 14.9% shares of its Sega Entertainment division to Genda Inc., fully exiting the business in the process, after more than 50 years in the industry. In 2020, Sega sold 85.1% of Sega Entertainment shares to Genda, citing uncertainties caused by the pandemic to its business. The recent decision would give Genda full ownership over Sega Entertainment, which will be renamed to Genda GiGO Entertainment. All Sega game centers will also be renamed to GiGo. However, the Sega Entertainment business only ran arcade locations, while the company that manufactured and sold arcade machines is different.
