Signal will be rolling out a feature allowing users to change numbers without losing current threads, groups, and messages within the messaging app. To change numbers, access to the old number is necessary. Users will nee to select the "Change Phone Number" option under the app's account settings, where they'll be asked to input both the old and new numbers. Signal will then guide the users through the registration process for setting up a new number. Once successfully done, contacts that have been previously contacted will see a new message in the thread that notifies them of the number change with a choice to update contact info accordingly.
