Apple released the iOS 6.1 update the iPhone 5 earlier today and both Smart and Globe subscribers have had their iPhone 5 handset activated for LTE. Smart then announced they are giving subs free, unlimited access to their LTE network until April 30. In a press release posted by Smart today, all subs with unlimited data plans will also get the same under their LTE network. “Subscribers of Smart iPhone 5 postpaid plans with unlimited data can now get download speeds that are up to 20 times faster than the usual 3G connection on their mobile device,” said Smart Executive Vice President and Wireless Consumer Division Head Emmanuel C. Smart iPhone 5 users on iPhone Plans 999 and 2499 and Unlidata Plans 1500, 2000, and 3000 can automatically use Smart LTE for free until April 30, 2013. After the April 30 unlimited promo period, Smart might start charging additional fee for LTE access. Still, Smart iPhone 5 users can enjoy unli-LTE in the next 3 months.
