During the Snapdragon Summit 2022, Qualcomm unveiled the name of our next-generation CPU for Snapdragon platforms -- Qualcomm Oryon. In the past, Snapdragon chipsets have been powered by the Kryo processors which were designed based on licenses from ARM, starting with the Snapdragon 820 (in 2015) followed by the mid-range Snapdragon 636 and Snapdragon 660 (2017), and the entry-level Snapdragon 632 (2018). With the Oryon CPU, Qualcomm will design and create its own CPU in the hopes of producing more powerful and efficient chipsets. Qualcomm also announced earlier this week the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset which is still based on the Kyro CPU. Qualcomm has released a development smartphone and tablet that touts the latest Snapdragon 810 processor. In addition, its Adreno 430 GPU can output 30% more performance than the Snapdragon 805’s Adreno 420 while supporting 4K display resolution. Price tag for both devices are pretty steep, but do consider that having one means you're one of the firsts to have a device running the Snapdragon 810. Interested buyers can snag one this December. Qualcomm is going in for the kill as the company announced two new powerful additions to their 64-bit mobile chip lineup, namely the octa-core Snapdragon 810 and hexa-core Snapdragon 808.
