The government of Somalia has just announced a ban on both TikTok and Telegram along with the 1xBet online gambling app with the reason being that the apps were being manipulated by "terrorists" in spreading fake news. Somalia's Ministry of Communications and Technology had ordered internet service providers to strictly implement the ban by August 24 or face legal measures. The ban comes before its second phase of operations against the militant group Al-Shabaab which uses Telegram as a communication platform.
