Following China's establishment of a new national security law for Hong Kong, TikTok has decided to exit the region, stating, "In light of recent events, we've decided to stop operations of the TikTok app in Hong Kong." TikTok is designed so it cannot be accessed by mainland China to appeal to a global audience. Because it's not clear whether Hong Kong will fall under Beijing's jurisdiction, TikTok has made the pre-emptive move to exit the region.
