#TIN verification

Filipinos can now access a digital version of their TIN ID through the eGovPH app. Users must also already have a digital TIN ID in the BIR system. It builds on the Online Registration and Update System (ORUS), introduced in 2023, which allows users to apply for a TIN online and verify it through a QR code. With the digital version, users can now keep a copy of their TIN ID on their phone for easier use when needed. Zoom is rolling out a new feature designed to verify whether meeting participants are real people, as concerns grow over AI-generated avatars and deepfakes. The feature uses what is called “World ID” technology, which verifies users by comparing multiple data points, including a registered identity image, a live facial scan, and real-time video during a meeting. Meeting hosts can require identity verification before allowing participants to join, while users can also trigger verification requests mid-call. The move comes as AI-generated avatars become more advanced, making it harder to distinguish between real users and synthetic identities in virtual meetings.
