Tumblr says it is working to restore access for users in the Philippines. In a post on its official blog, Tumblr said the Philippine government has now moved to restore access after numerous users have reported the issue. It stated that Tumblr was "not licensed by Philippine authorities." The message also included links to gambling websites approved by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR). The incident caused confusion among local users since Tumblr is primarily known as a blogging and social media platform and not related to online gambling services. Verizon sold Tumblr, a microblogging and social networking website, to Automattic, the parent company of WordPress. CEO of Automattic, Matt Mullenweg, stated that Tumblr will be operating as a complimentary service to WordPress. It's been reported that Tumblr still has a userbase of about 475.1 million blogs but lost a significant amount of its userbase due to the porn and "adult content" ban. Launched in 2007, Tumblr was bought by Yahoo in 2013 for USD 1.1 billion.
