Twitter has confirmed testing a new feature 'Twitter Notes' that lets user write longer form of content. The feature is currently in testing and only available to select group of writers at the time being. Along the left side of the UI (on web) is its own 'Write' tab where users are brought to another page to start writing. Currently, tweets are limited to only 280 characters and adding such feature will apparently change Twitter's identity that is defined by that limited writing.
