CD-R King and other retailers have signed an agreement with telco giant, Globe Telecom, to discontinue the sale of illegal repeaters and signals boosters in the country.
Globe Telecom and major gadgets and IT equipment retailers CD-R King General Merchandise, Electronics Boutique and Smile-Com have signed an agreement that will stop the sale of repeaters or signal boosters that do not comply with specifications set by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
This agreement is in accordance to the NTC Memorandum Order 01-02-2013 that prohibits the selling, purchasing, importing, or using of repeaters or boosters that are not approved by the commission in an effort to prevent harmful interference to the Cellular Mobile Networks.
Repeaters or signal boosters are antennas that boost network signals in areas with weak coverage by hogging bandwidth from legitimate network infrastructures.
“We appreciate the cooperation of the major retailers of gadgets and technology items in the country to support our drive against the use of illegal repeaters. Many of the existing retailers have been previously unaware that the sale of such equipment violates existing laws,” said Atty. Froilan Castelo, head of Globe Corporate Legal Services Group.

If these telcos offer better signal and services then these gadgets wouldn’t be for sale.
pogi says:
why? kse d nyo aminin may problema un signal nyo? kasalanan ng mga taong gsto sumagap ng magandang signal using ur telco as their provider?
Smokescreen says:
Globe wants to stop these boosters so that they can set up their own equipment and overcharge consumers for it and disguise it as expansion projects to serve loyal customers better. LOL
Sonofa says:
tagal tagal ko na naghahanap nito!!! matagal na daw wala to sa cdr king diba?
FanBoy says:
Parang naduling ata ako. Tama ba na sa article na ito Globe Telecoms lang ang telco? Walang Smart, Sun, TnT, Sun, etc… Bat wala sila?
Raphie says:
Kahit wala sa cdr-king. Meron pa rin nyan sa sulit or ebay. Hehe..
HiERARCH says:
dong says:
the memorandum does not say anything on how they will address the root cause of the problem. people will still find ways :)
Zo says:
So how much did this cost globe?
Mark says:
So CDR-King na ang Supplier nila ng signal booster? Hehe
yui says:
Lupet ng globe. Yari na naman kaming mga postpaid users niyan, may biglang gulat na naman sa bill next month. Pambawi sa nagastos nila. fck
ed says:
With the kind of signal that globe is transmitting, its not a surprise why these boosters are being sold everywhere, since globe is not doing anything with the signal complains that were being filed by their users. it’s not a surprise that consumers will find their way to boost the signal.
someone says:
pakibasa naman.
“stop the sale of repeaters or signal boosters that do not comply with specifications set by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)”
so kung nagcocomply at inspected ng NTC na within specification, walang problema at pwede pa rin ibenta.
anything that connects to a cellular network needs to have an approval from NTC.
3G broadband stick, local branded phones like myphone and cherry mobile, branded phones from Samsung and Sony that are sold by AUTHORIZED retail shops all have a NTC seal on it.
So if CDR-King still wants to sell these devices, they should ask for their devices to be inspected by NTC. Only then would these be allowed to be used legally.
Carlo says:
Now i know na meron pala nyan. hehehe
theSandies says:
Bobo ng globe. Pati simpleng signal blockage nga di nila maayos kaya di nila masisisi na mag signal booster ang mga tao. Bulokkkkkk kasi signal nila buti pa smart o sun.
jejemon says:
CDR-King now is selling everything…from pencil to telecommunication equipment. Next, will be kaldero, palayok, at baka kotse maid in Taiwan. Mahilig kasi yung ibang tao jan ng mabilis o kaya shortcut just to satisfy their needs…pero people remember if we want to go to the right way, maayos na serbisyo bakit hindi tayo magreklamo at makialam sa kung ano problema na nararanasan natin…if we have issue on our telco provider services magreklamo ka sa business center nila or hotline. gnun din sa ibang services sa private or public sector. This merchandise is not a telco provider or accredited manufacturer of this kind of devices, they just keep on building and providing what they know na kelangan nung mga taong bumibili sa kanila na hindi nakikita sa mga major merchadisers.
DeeJ says:
san pwede magreport ng may gumagamit? i think i saw many households around my area using it. took picture of it too.
Arbs says:
I’m not saying na masamang gumamit nito kasi it’s for your own satisfaction of services lalo na sa mga walang signal sa loob ng bahay. The reason why Globe banning this kind of repeater/booster is because it can effect voice/signal quality for those others who do not use the booster. I worked on one of the telcos and my group installs/supervising installation of this kind of equipment and if the installation of this is not right, it can effect other areas’ signals near the place this equipment installed and even your own place due to interference. take note every telco has their own frequencies.
pero kapag tumama yung installation mo and the frequency emitting/recieving by this equipment it surely boost your signal.
