Listen to article

Globe Telecom is set to introduce an embedded SIM (eSIM) for its prepaid users by the end of Q3 2023.

Globe claims that the introduction of prepaid eSIM comes with many benefits. Including the ability to create multiple profiles using different mobile numbers on a single device.

This allows them to effortlessly switch between lines for different purposes, such as after-office hours, travel, or anything else that suits their lifestyle.

“By the end of this quarter, we will launch our leveled-up version of the eSIM because we recognize the opportunity and we can also monetize the convenience that eSIM can give our customers,” said Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.

“And it’s also going to restructure the way we operate because there’s less cost, it’s fully Do-It-Yourself. It’s really convenient for the customer.”

With eSIM technology, users can also link multiple devices, including smartphones and smartwatches, to a single mobile number.

This eliminates the need to worry about leaving their primary phone behind when going for a jog or running a quick errand.

In addition, the upcoming eSIM launch is not just about convenience, but also about sustainability.

By minimizing the reliance on physical SIM cards made of plastic, the eSIM initiative reduces waste generation and logistics, making it a step towards more responsible consumption behaviors.

While Globe eSIM is readily available for new and existing Globe postpaid customers, this expansion marks a milestone in the company’s commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions for its customers.
