Listen to article

Now that PLDT and Smart Communications have a piece of the treasured 700MHz band in the country, they now layout the plan to take advantage of the acquisition.

smart 700mhz

The plan, according to PLDT and Smart’s chief technology and information advisor, Joachim Horn, will come in two legs. First will be the deployment of Long-Term Evolution or LTE on 700MHz. With this, the coverage of LTE will expand further and have more capacity.

Second is to release new and affordable devices that can support the use of the new band. Obviously, in order to feel the power of the low-band frequency, the end user should have the proper device and sadly, not all current LTE devices in the market embraces 700MHz.

For now, we’re are yet to feel the outcome of the surprising buyout of San Miguel’s high-value frequency. But one thing’s for sure, a third telco player is far from happening again.

hope that this technology will truly improve indoors LTE browsing. Sa galaxy s7 ko kasi ngayon, Less than 1mbps lang pag nasa bahay. pero pag nasa kalsada or sa mga outdoors umaabot ng 20-40 MBPS. which i found it useless. lumalabas lang naman ako pag may pasok at di ako nag aino ba nagbobrowsing sa labas n sobrang init?
