Samsung’s snazzy Home Theater System

Got this in the Inbox earlier. It’s the new line of compact home theater-in-a-box systems from Samsung. The models I specifically liked are the HT-X710 and X715 series.

For desktop PC speakers, I’ve always been an Altec Lansing fan for almost a decade now. My home theater system is a Samsung though (HT-TZ515) that came as a promo with the 32″ HDTV I bought a year ago.

I still got that Saitek iFreedom 2.1 Wireless Speakers from last year but I seldom use it now except for hooking up with my iPod. My PC still uses a 4-year old Altec Lansing 321 speakers.

The X710 is 2.1 with 800 watts total power (PMPO) while the X715 is 5.1 with FM tuners, Dolby Digital, and hooks up wirelessly on a 5.8GHz band. There’s also Bluetooth connection if you want to stream from your mobile phone.

They looked cool in shiny metal black but I have yet to hear and see them in person to know if they’re that good. There’s no listed local SRP for these yet and even Gizmodo’s coverage of these last CES did not mention any price.

BOSE is more of a MARKETING COMPANY than a SPEAKER manufacturer!
50% of Bose’s budget goes to marketing. That’s why you see and hear the brand most of the time.

I love my Altec Lansing 321 speakers. Still going strong after 4 years. Too bad they don’t make them anymore.
