Samsung unveils 990 SSD

Listen to article

Samsung has introduced a new PCIe 4.0 storage drive designed for gamers, content creators, and PC users looking for faster performance and better power efficiency; and that’s the 990 SSD.

This SSD is available in 1TB or 2TB; it hit sequential reads up to 7,250MB/s and writes up to 6,450MB/s. Samsung also mentions that the drive brings around 38% improved power efficiency compared with the earlier 990 PRO, so you can cut down on power use without losing performance… somehow it still stays fast.

On top of that, the Samsung 990 SSD uses the company’s latest V-NAND tech, plus an in-house controller, AES 256-bit encryption, and it supports Samsung Magician software for drive managing, which makes monitoring, tweaks, and general setup feel pretty straightforward.

Global availability begins on July 15, 2026, while Philippine availability will be announced at a later date.
