Sony has announced at the annual Game Developers Conference that their virtual reality headset, the PlayStation VR, will launch in October for $399.
Sony’s virtual reality headset was first unveiled in 2014 as Project Morpheus. In September 2015, Sony announced its official name as “PlayStation VR”. It is designed to be used with the PS4 and features a 5.7-inch Full HD resolution OLED display, 90-degree field of view, 120hz refresh rate, low latency of less than 18ms, 3D Audio Technology, and motion sensors.
According to the company, more than 230 developers are building content for PlayStation VR. More than 50 games is expected to be available when the device launches in October 2016 until the end of the year. Additionally, Sony will also make available free for download the Playroom VR with six games from the PlayStation Store for all PS VR owners at launch.
