0:00If you still think a tablet is just a
0:02bigger phone, this one might change your
0:05mind. The Huawei MatePad 11.5 Papermat
0:08Edition 2025 is designed to deliver a
0:11complete PC-like experience bundled with
0:14a keyboard, stylus, and pre-installed
0:16apps for productivity and creativity.
0:18And here’s the kicker. It does all that
0:21at less than half the price of a fully
0:24accessorized
0:252025 iPad. So, today we’re putting it
0:29head-to-head with the Apple iPad 2025 to
0:32see which tablet is the better deal for
0:35students, young professionals, and
0:36creatives.
0:38Let’s get into it.
0:43Right out of the box, this year’s Huawei
0:45Matead 11.5 Paperman Edition comes with
0:47the third generation M Pencil that
0:50magnetizes to the top of the tablet and
0:53charges wirelessly. It sports an ultra-
0:56low latency and the papermat display
0:58makes it feel as close to writing on
1:00actual paper, which can be great for
1:03those who love to pen notes over typing
1:05or even digital illustrations. Potential
1:08buyers should also be happy to get the
1:09Huawei Smart Keyboard bundled in.
1:12Another separate purchase we don’t need
1:14to worry about with the MatePad 11.5.
1:16Tactility feels great for a compact
1:19chickllet keyboard. And since it’s a
1:21firstparty accessory, the macros and the
1:23function keys work seamlessly with the
1:26tablet. The keyboard itself magnetically
1:28attaches and detaches to and from the
1:31case, allowing users to type without
1:33having to be anchored to the tablet or
1:35even use it as a makeshift remote
1:38control. The iPad, on the other hand,
1:41gets Apple Pencil support, whether
1:43that’s the USBC Apple Pencil or the
1:45first generation, as well as Magic
1:48Keyboard Folio support. The caveat here
1:50is both these accessories are sold
1:53separately. Plus, writing on the glossy
1:55surface can feel a lot less satisfying.
1:58This can be remedied with a third party
2:00screen protector. But then again, that’s
2:02another purchase altogether. So, if
2:05y’all haven’t gotten the hints for this
2:07round, the win goes to the mate pad for
2:10the amazing value we get from the
2:12bundled accessories. For configs,
2:14Huawei’s 2025 MatePad 11.5 Papermat
2:17Edition treats its users with 8 GB of
2:20RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.
2:23Apple’s 2025 iPad gives us 6 GB of
2:26memory and 128 GB of internal storage
2:29for its base variant. In real world use,
2:32we may not feel the subtle differences
2:34between 8 and 6 GB of memory, but the
2:36storage difference is a lot harder to
2:38ride off, especially for those
2:40high-risisk photos and videos we like to
2:42store locally. On the software side of
2:44things, out of the box, the MatePad
2:46utilizes Harmony OS 4.3, while the iPad
2:49runs on iPad OS 18.3. The Matead’s
2:52multitasking tools like multi-wind make
2:54it a strong productivity workhorse for
2:57those who need to bounce between
2:58multiple apps. It also runs Google Apps
3:00with little to no issues via the updated
3:02Huawei app gallery. The iPad’s
3:04counterpart for Huawei’s multi-wind
3:06feature is split view and slide over,
3:09which pretty much does the same thing.
3:11And the iPad handles apps from the App
3:13Store as expected. Speaking of apps, a
3:16full version of WPS Office comes
3:18pre-installed with the MatePad, which is
3:20another great alternative for the usual
3:22productivity apps without the need for
3:24an online connection. Huawei Notes, not
3:26to be mistaken with their Notepad app,
3:28can pretty much do everything the iPad’s
3:30notes app can do, like registering our
3:33handwriting for note-taking, scanning
3:35documents, and even split view. The main
3:37difference is the default iPad Notes app
3:40doesn’t give us custom page templates,
3:42or the ability to change paper size. For
3:44something like that, we’d need a
3:45subscription for a third-p partyy app
3:47like GoodNotes if we want more than
3:49three notebooks. This year’s Matead 11.5
3:52is Huawei’s first mid-range tablet to
3:54get Go Paint, which is the brand’s
3:56answer to Procreate. The latter does not
3:58come free with the iPad. Luckily, it is
4:01a one-time payment. Procreate has been
4:03around a bit longer than GoPaint, but in
4:05essence, the difference between the two
4:07can easily be forgotten once users
4:09realize just how feature- packed and
4:11powerful Go Paint actually is,
4:13especially in combination with the third
4:15gen M Pencil. Both apps are specifically
4:17designed for their respective platforms,
4:19and we’re sure that most digital artists
4:22can easily find value with either one.
4:24Closing off this round, we’ll have to
4:26give it to the 2025 MatePad 11.5
4:28Papermat Edition for its better baseline
4:31storage and RAM configuration. Not
4:33having to pay for third party apps is
4:35also a great bonus. This year’s MatePad
4:3711.5 Papermat Edition features an 11.5
4:40in 2.5K 3×2 full view TFT LCD display
4:45sporting a buttery smooth 120 Hz refresh
4:48rate and the aforementioned papermat
4:50layer which reduces glare reflections
4:52and enhances eye comfort. In comparison,
4:55the 2025 Apple iPad comes with an 11in
4:592.5K liquid retina IPS LCD panel that
5:02gets a 60 Hz refresh rate and a glossy
5:05finish with true tone technology for
5:07color temperature adjustment. Both
5:09displays deliver sharp and color
5:11accurate output which are great for
5:13watching and viewing our favorite
5:15content. The paper matte finish greatly
5:17reduces glare, eye strain, and offers
5:19that nice paper feeling surface when
5:21used with the pen, which we really
5:24liked. The iPad’s glossy display can
5:26definitely give the impression of deeper
5:28blacks, but can feel more fatiguing,
5:30especially when used during graveyard
5:32hours. And so, for this round, we’ll be
5:34giving it to the Huawei MatePad 11.5
5:37once again for the better screen refresh
5:40rate and eye comfort. Powering the 2025
5:43Matead 11.5 is a large 10,100 mAh
5:47battery that supports 40 W of
5:49supercharge, giving us about 12 hours of
5:52screen on time. In contrast, the 2025
5:54iPad packs a smaller 7,66 mAh battery
5:58with up to 45 watts of power delivery
6:01charging, offering us around 10 hours of
6:04screen on time. So, for battery, the
6:06iPad may get the Hoopla for faster
6:08charging speeds, but unfortunately, they
6:10only include a 20 watt charger in the
6:13box, which implies another purchase for
6:15consumers if they want to take advantage
6:17of its faster charging speed. That’s
6:19just another reason why the MatePad wins
6:22with its bigger battery capacity and
6:24longer battery life. Now, before getting
6:26to our obvious verdict, let’s recap how
6:28much everything we’ve mentioned could
6:30potentially cost prospecting buyers. The
6:322025 Apple iPad 11in starts at 24,990
6:38pesos. That’s with the base
6:39configuration with 6 GB of RAM and 128
6:42GB of internal storage. Add in the USBC
6:45Apple Pencil and that’s another 4,990
6:48pesos. Let’s not forget we also need
6:50that Folio Magic Keyboard which adds
6:52another 16,990
6:55pesos. We can probably make do without a
6:57Microsoft Office and GoodNotee
6:59subscription, but we do need Procreate
7:02for this comparison. So, that’s another
7:04699 pesos, which totals to 47,169
7:10pesos. With that money, we could just
7:12opt for the 512 gig storage model, but
7:15we would have to let go of all the
7:16accessories and Procreate. In other
7:19words, it’s pretty much a nobrainer to
7:22go for the 2025 Huawei Mate Pad 11.5
7:24Papermat Edition, which we heard from
7:27the Grapevine will only cost us around
7:2920,000 pesos. Again, that’s a package
7:32that includes awesome freebies like the
7:35third generation M Pencil and smart
7:37keyboard with WPS Office and
7:39GoPinstalled out of the box. It’s
7:42crystal clear at this point that the
7:44Huawei Matead 11.5 won this comparison.
7:48It’s one of the best tablets to offer a
7:50PC-like experience for less than 22,000
7:53pesos. The Matead is a great purchase
7:55for students, writers, creatives, social
7:58media managers, and value seekers who
8:00want a complete package out of the box
8:02capable of replacing a traditional
8:04laptop. The iPad is for practically the
8:07same demographic of users, but is best
8:10suited for those already invested in
8:12Apple’s ecosystem. For those of you
8:14interested in the Huawei Matead 11.5
8:16Papermat Edition 2025, we can get a 500
8:20peso early bird voucher through the
8:21brand’s official Shopppee, Lazada, and

8:28online store starting August 29th to
