0:00Sup peeps, Early Figate Tech. So, the
0:02tablet market is seemingly getting
0:04bigger and bigger every year, and what
0:06we have here today is the Oppo Pad 5
0:08matte display edition with 5G cellular.
0:10Those two features alone already hint
0:12who this tablet is designed for. But out
0:15in the sea of tablet options out there,
0:17is this thing worth checking out? You’re
0:19about to find out in this review. Let’s
0:21dive right in.
0:25At first glance, I would say the Oppo
0:27Pad 5 definitely shows off a premium
0:29vibe. Our unit is in the Starlight Black
0:31colorway, sporting a metallic satin-like
0:34finish across the back panel. However,
0:36my one gripe is it tends to be a
0:38fingerprint magnet. So, I’d suggest
0:40slapping on a case whenever possible.
0:42Thankfully, I always have my handy fiber
0:44cloth with me. So, in this case, I’ve
0:47been wiping it clean religiously from
0:48time to time. Despite the large size
0:51having a 12.1 in display, the tablet is
0:54still pretty lightweight. It weighs only
0:56597 g and measures 6.83 mm thin. The
1:00tablet doesn’t come with any English
1:01protection though, which I already
1:03expected since most tablet out there
1:05don’t really have extra protection in
1:07mind. For buttons and ports in landscape
1:09orientation facing the screen, the power
1:11button, two speaker grills, and the SIM
1:13tray slot are all found on the left
1:15side. Meanwhile, on the right side, it
1:17has a USBC in between two more speaker
1:20grills. Up top, there’s the volume
1:22rocker on the left part, and there’s
1:23nothing on the bottom. Flipping over to
1:25the front, not going to lie, the display
1:28is one of the tablet’s strongest suit.
1:30Again, it features a 12.1 in IPS LCD
1:33panel with 2.8K resolution and supports
1:36for a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate. Of
1:38course, let’s not forget that anti-glare
1:40matte display, which I find useful and
1:42effective at reducing reflections,
1:44especially when I’m using it outdoors.
1:46It can reach up to 900 nits in high
1:47brightness mode, so I could still see
1:49the screen even under direct sunlight.
1:51Not to mention, the bezels here are thin
1:53and uniform all around. Unfortunately,
1:55our unit didn’t come with any
1:57accessories such as styus or a keyboard
1:59case. So, there’s nothing much to write
2:01home about its palm rejection or how
2:03satisfying it would have been to write
2:04on its matte display. Now, talking about
2:06the multimedia experience, it has been
2:08absolutely great. And I’m not even
2:10exaggerating here. I have genuinely
2:12enjoyed watching movies, scrolling on
2:14socials, and listening to music using
2:16this tablet. It has a quad speaker setup
2:18and Dolby Atmos support. And in my
2:20experience, the audio quality is loud
2:22and immersive with incredibly punchy
2:24bass that doesn’t bleed over to the
2:26mids, and the highs are detailed. Now,
2:28for biometrics, the Oppo Pad 5 only
2:30supports face unlock that generally
2:32works reliably and quickly. Just make
2:34sure to set up either a pattern or
2:36passcode as an added layer of security.
2:38Moving on to cameras. This segment isn’t
2:41really a priority when it comes to
2:42tablets, and it shows. The Oppo Pad 5
2:45features an 8 megapixel sensor for both
2:47the rear and front-facing cameras.
2:49Looking at our sample shots, these are
2:51serviceable at best. Clarity is not the
2:53best since there’s no autofocus here and
2:56the color reproduction is a hit or miss.
2:58Generally looking a bit flat and the
3:00dynamic range isn’t as wide with mostly
3:02blown out highlights and crush shadows.
3:04Selfies are okay, able to produce
3:06natural skin tones and a more acceptable
3:08exposure. However, the quality degrades
3:11drastically once you use it in dim
3:13environments. For video capture, both
3:15the front and rear cameras can record up
3:17to a maximum of 1080p at 30 frames per
3:19second. And as you would have guessed
3:21already, the video quality is okay as
3:23long as you have steady hands. It’s
3:25lacking any form of stabilization, so
3:27expect most of your videos are shaky.
3:29Also, the output looks weirdly a bit
3:31grayish.
3:32>> So, peeps or if you get tech, right now
3:34we’re using the Oppo Pad 5’s
3:35front-facing camera and shooting at
3:371080p at the frames per second. So, tell
3:40us your thoughts about that camera
3:41capability. With all that said, these
3:44cameras will still come in handy for
3:46quick snaps, document scanning, and of
3:48course, online meetings. Powering the
3:50Oppo Pad 5 is the MediaTek Dimensity
3:537300 Ultra chipset combined with 8 gig
3:56of RAM and 256 gig of expandable
3:58storage. Yes, you heard that right. This
4:01tablet comes with a dedicated micro SD
4:03slot, at least for the cellular unit
4:05that we have. Going back to performance,
4:07the tablet delivers well for the most
4:09part. Navigation around is smooth, app
4:11loading times are fairly quick, and
4:13jumping from different apps didn’t cause
4:15any obvious slowdowns. Looking at her
4:17benchmark results, the tablet managed to
4:19get solid numbers. In a 22 version 11,
4:21it almost hit a million points. And in a
4:23graphical test like 3D Mark, it was able
4:25to pass about 19 FPS of average frame
4:28rate. That says a lot already about its
4:30gaming performance.
4:39Playing mobile in shooter games like
4:41Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile,
4:43this game runs smoothly even if the
4:45graphics settings were set to ultra.
4:47Meanwhile, for more demanding games like
4:48Gungeon Impact and Watering Waves, the
4:51average frame rate hovered around 40 FPS
4:53in low to medium graphics with minimal
4:55stutters. The back plate warm up for a
4:57bit during sustained gameplay, but it
4:59didn’t reach a point when it was
5:00uncomfortably hot to the touch. Now,
5:02jumping onto the software side, the OPPO
5:04pad 5 runs on the latest Color OS 16
5:07built on top of Android 16. In terms of
5:09UI design, color OS looks very modern,
5:11having sneak animation all throughout
5:13the system. I also like that you’d get
5:15so many customization options like
5:17changing the app icons, experimenting
5:19with different themes and personalizing
5:21the lock screen. First party OPPO apps
5:23are present here along with a few
5:25bloatware apps that you can easily
5:26remove if you want to. Aside from
5:28customization, the tablet also has AI
5:30tools available to help boost
5:32productivity. There’s AI Writer, AI
5:34Translate, and AI VoiceCribe alongside
5:37Google Gemini, Circle to Search, and
5:39some AI editing tools present inside the
5:41Photos app. And for software support,
5:43the tablet is promised to get two major
5:45OS upgrades and 3 years of security
5:47patches. When it comes to tablet
5:49experience, having a long battery life
5:51is pretty much a necessity. The Oppo Pad
5:535 Matte Display Edition packs a 10,50
5:56mAh battery paired with 33 watts of wire
5:58charging. With that massive capacity, I
6:01really had high expectations. In our PC
6:03Mark battery life test, the tablet only
6:05lasted 14 hours and 28 minutes. That
6:08number is quite underwhelming, but
6:10considering this tablet has a massive
6:12screen, that result kind of makes sense.
6:14On the bright side, our video loop test
6:16did it some justice. It has 19 hours and
6:1949 minutes of uptime, which is
6:20significantly a better result. What’s a
6:23bit of a letdown is the absence of a
6:25power break and only included a USBA TOC
6:27cable in the box. Connectivity wise, our
6:30unit supports 5G cellular, Wi-Fi 6, and
6:33Bluetooth 5.4. Before going into our
6:35verdict, let’s talk about the price. The
6:37Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition retails
6:40for 25,999
6:42pesos for the Wi-Fi variant and 28,999
6:45pesos for the 5G cellular variant. Each
6:47comes with 8 gig of RAM and 256 gig of
6:50storage.
6:52The Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition is
6:54one prime example that Oppo can make a
6:57tablet that feels premium, powerful, and
6:59fun to use. All achievable in the
7:01mid-range scene. From its large and
7:03smooth display to its loud quad
7:05speakers, the experience feels
7:06immersive. Whether you’re watching
7:08movies, attending classes, working on
7:10task, and playing games. Overall
7:12performance is also reliable, handling
7:14everyday use, and even heavy gaming on
7:16the side without major problems. Plus,
7:18the sleek design makes it look more
7:20expensive than it actually is. At its
7:22price, the tablet delivers a balanced
7:24package for students, casual users,
7:27gamers, and even content creators alike
7:29who want a stylish and dependable
7:31companion for both productivity and
7:32entertainment on the go everyday. And
7:35that’s it. What do you think of the
