0:00Nothing’s first ever flagship phone is
0:02here, the Nothing Phone 3. It boasts
0:05that iconic yet refreshed design
0:07language and a flagship level chipset
0:09among others. With the brand entering
0:11the flagship space, a price hike is to
0:14be expected. Spoiler alert, the Phone 3
0:17starts at just under 45,000 pesos. But
0:20does the price increase justify it as a
0:22solid flagship starter? Or would you be
0:24better off with the more affordable Poco
0:27F7 Ultra, which offers almost the same
0:30flagship level experience at a lower
0:32price? That’s what we’re here to find
0:34out in this comparison review. So,
0:36without further ado, I’m your host CJ
0:39and let’s get right to the video.
0:43First, let’s talk about the design. As
0:45soon as you see these devices, you’ll
0:47immediately know which is which. The one
0:50with a quirkier design is, of course,
0:52the Nothing Phone 3. Our unit is in the
0:54black colorway, and it surely carries
0:57Nothing’s DNA with that transparent and
0:59industrial look. However, the iconic
1:02glyph lights are gone and now replaced
1:04with the so-called glyph matrix. This is
1:07a mini screen at the rear housing 489
1:10mini LEDs in a dot matrix fashion. With
1:13the Glyph Matrix, the phone’s back is
1:15now a bit more useful, doing beyond just
1:18the usual glyph notifications. We’ve
1:20talked a lot more about the Glyph Matrix
1:22in our full review, and you can watch
1:24that here on our YouTube channel if you
1:26haven’t. So, going back to the design,
1:28the Phone 3 spots a triple camera setup
1:31at the rear, and it’s a drastic change
1:33from the phone 3A. It’s also a divisive
1:35one for that matter because of the
1:37telephoto lens placement. The phone
1:39sports a flat edge design accompanied
1:42with an aluminum frame and a thin layer
1:44of Gorilla Glass on both the front and
1:46the back panels for extra protection.
1:48Moving over to the Poco F7 Ultra, it
1:51goes for a more minimalist look. Our
1:53unit comes in yellow with a circular
1:55camera island on the top left corner,
1:57and you’ll notice some decorative lines
1:59splashed around it. The back housing
2:01curves on all sides, making it slightly
2:04more comfortable to hold. Aside from
2:05that, there’s not much to write home
2:07about. Both models are also IP68 rated,
2:10providing enhanced resistance against
2:12dust and water submersion. Now, when it
2:14comes to design, I would personally
2:16prefer the unique and functional
2:18aesthetics of the Phone 3. Still, the PO
2:21F7 Ultra has a sleek minimalist look,
2:23but when placed next to the Phone 3, my
2:26eyes would easily be drawn to the
2:27Nothing Phone. No cap. At the end of the
2:30day though, design is subjective and
2:32with each having no significant
2:34advantage over the other, then it’s just
2:36fair to give them both a point this
2:38round. Flip both phones over, we are
2:41greeted by vivid AMOLED screens of the
2:43same size. Both models sport a 6.67 in
2:47AMOLED panel running at 120 Hz refresh
2:49rate. But that’s where the similarities
2:51end. The Nothing Phone 3’s display has a
2:54full HD plus resolution with 460 PPI, a
2:58peak brightness of 4500 nits, and
3:00Gorilla Glass 7i on top. On the other
3:02hand, the Poco F7 Ultra boasts a higher
3:05screen resolution at 1.5K, a higher
3:08pixel density at 526 PPI, a lower peak
3:12brightness is at 3200 nits, and has Poco
3:14Shield glass. What’s a bit of a
3:16downgrade from the Phone 3 though is the
3:18lack of LTPO. Despite being marketed as
3:21a true flagship, while the Poco F7 Ultra
3:24also doesn’t feature an LTPO panel, it’s
3:27more affordable price can justify that.
3:29Setting that aside, both phones provide
3:32a satisfying visual experience. I had no
3:35issues watching my favorite content on
3:37YouTube as well as Netflix for both
3:39models, offering vivid colors, good
3:41contrast, and true deeper blacks. In
3:43terms of audio quality, the Nothing
3:45Phone 3 does earn my compliments for
3:47delivering a noticeable better sound
3:49stage. The highs and mids are loud and
3:52detailed, while the bass really pops and
3:54has the kind of punch that you’d expect
3:56out of a flagship device. The Poco F7
3:58Ultra does offer almost the same level
4:00of clarity across the highs and mids.
4:03However, the bass is not as punchy to my
4:05liking. For biometric security, both
4:08phones feature under the display
4:09fingerprint sensors, albeit the Poco F7
4:11Ultra uses a more advanced ultrasonic
4:14sensor. The Nothing Phone 3 is left with
4:16an optical one. That said, both phones
4:19are quick to recognize my fingerprint,
4:21unlocking almost instantly the moment I
4:23press my thumb. However, that doesn’t
4:25really give the F7 Ultra a major
4:27advantage in the multimedia aspect.
4:30Therefore, this round I’m giving the
4:32point the Nothing Phone 3 as it delivers
4:34an overall better audio experience. Now,
4:36in terms of performance, the Nothing
4:38Phone 3 definitely raised an eyebrow.
4:41It’s powered by the Snapdragon 8S Gen 4,
4:43which isn’t exactly the most high-end
4:46chipset out there. What’s really
4:47interesting is that the F7 Ultra,
4:50despite its significant lower cost,
4:52managed to get the bleeding edge
4:53Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the Snapdragon
4:568S Gen 4 is pretty powerful on its own,
4:59our benchmark results clearly show the
5:01significant advantage that the true
5:03flagship chip offers. In our N22 test,
5:06the Phone 3 surpassed 1.9 million
5:09points, and that’s already a solid
5:11result. Meanwhile, the Poco F7 Ultra
5:13achieved the highest score at 2.3
5:15million points. The same trend is true
5:17for other tests with F7 Ultra
5:20consistently delivering notable gains
5:22across the board except the Phone 3’s
5:24Ant22 storage results showing faster
5:26read and write speeds. Setting the
5:28numbers aside, I would say the average
5:30user won’t notice any difference. Using
5:33both phones is a breeze. Navigation is
5:35absolutely smooth and each device can
5:38handle everything you throw at it. On
5:40the subject of gaming, despite not
5:41having the most high-end chip, the
5:43Nothing Phone 3 does hold its ground.
5:45The phone handled graphic intensive
5:47titles like Weathering Waves and Zenless
5:49Zone Zero really well without any
5:50noticeable stutters. As for the Popo F7
5:53Ultra, playing such graphically
5:55demanding games is a piece of cake.
5:57Notably, another advantage it offers is
5:59frame generation feature. This makes
6:02your gameplay far smoother with the
6:03phone automatically inserting new frames
6:06thanks to a dedicated display chip
6:08called Vision Boost D7. In fact, there’s
6:11a specific frame generation setting on
6:12Withering Waves that is present on the
6:14F7 Ultra, but not on the Phone 3. So,
6:17performance-wise, it’s a hard fact that
6:20the Poco F7 Ultra smashes the
6:22competition with its superior processing
6:24power. Thus, it secures the point this
6:26round, keeping the match even. For
6:28optics, the Nothing Phone 3 does count
6:31with a slightly better camera setup. All
6:33of its cameras come in 50 megapixel
6:36sensors, including a primary camera, an
6:38ultrawide lens, a periscope telephoto
6:40lens, and a selfie camera. On the other
6:43hand, the Poco F7 Ultra has similar
6:45setups, but not the same megapixels. It
6:48features a 50 megapixel main shooter,
6:50another 50 MP for telephoto, a 32P
6:54ultrawide, and a 32 map selfie shooter.
6:57Taking a look at our sample shots, you
6:59can see that there’s not a lot of
7:00difference in terms of image quality.
7:02The sharpness is on point, colors are
7:04accurate, and both deliver a good amount
7:06of dynamic range. The F7 Ultra is on the
7:09warmer side, though, while the Phone 3
7:11applies a cooler tone. It’s only when
7:13you zoom in that the PO F7 Ultra
7:15captures a bit softer image. It’s the
7:17same case for zoom shots, possibly
7:19because the Nothing Phone 3 uses a more
7:21advanced periscope telephoto camera. The
7:24quality even gets worse in ultrawide
7:26shots for the F7 Ultra. As for video,
7:28the F7 Ultra can shoot to 8K at 24
7:31frames per second, while the Phone 3 is
7:33kept at 4K at 60 frames per second.
7:35That’s a neat advantage, but when
7:37shooting at the same resolution and
7:39frame rate, both phones do a good job.
7:41The quality is superb with nice colors
7:43and stabilization works great for both
7:45models. While both phones appear to
7:47handle videos quite well, the level of
7:50quality that the Phone 3 offers in terms
7:52of capturing images is relatively better
7:54in my opinion. So, it secures another
7:56point this round. Battery life is
7:58another interesting topic in this
8:00comparison. While the Poco F7 Ultra
8:02packs a larger 5,300 milliamp battery,
8:05the Nothing Phone 3 with the 1550 mAh
8:08unit lasted far longer in our testing.
8:11The Phone 3 surpassed 17 hours and 49
8:13minutes of run time in our PC Mark
8:15battery life test. That’s over 3 hours
8:18longer than the F7 Ultra, lasting only
8:2114 hours and 16 minutes. That was
8:23apparently the outcome despite the F7
8:25Ultra supposedly having a more efficient
8:28chip and a larger battery pack. As for
8:30charging, the F7 Ultra has an advantage,
8:33featuring a blazing fast 120 watts of
8:35wired and 50 watts of wireless charging.
8:38The Phone 3 still gets a decent 65 watt
8:40of wired and 15 watts of wireless
8:42charging. A major drawback for me though
8:44is the lack of the charging brick in the
8:46box. Unfortunately, the phone 3 does
8:49exactly that. While battery life is
8:52always a key factor when comparing
8:53devices, what matters even more here is
8:56convenience, I’m specifically talking
8:58about getting everything you need in a
9:00single purchase. That’s where the F7
9:02Ultra comes in. It includes a 120 watt
9:04charging brick right in the box, which
9:06not only saves you the hassle of a
9:08separate purchase, but also cuts down on
9:10extra costs. For that reason, I’m giving
9:13the point to the F7 Ultra this round.
9:15Software- wise, we see quite the
9:17disparity here. Both phones run the
9:19latest Android 15 out of the box. The
9:21Poco F7 opts for a more iOS inspired UI
9:25with its Hyper OS2, while the Nothing
9:27Phone 3 stays in line with the ideal
9:29vision of Android through its Nothing OS
9:313.5. For the most part, both systems
9:34provide a generally great software
9:36experience. However, my one complaint
9:38for the S7 Ultra is the presence of ads
9:41and bloatares on the system level.
9:42Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone 3 remains
9:44clean and free of any bloat wear except
9:47the firstp party apps which are equally
9:49as useful as Xiaomi’s apps. Now, for the
9:51upgrade policy, the F7 Ultra is promised
9:54to get up to four major OS upgrades and
9:576 years of security patches. The
9:59additional 1 year is a step in the right
10:01direction for sure. However, the Phone 3
10:03oneups the competition by offering
10:05longer software support with up to 5
10:07years of major Android upgrades and 7
10:10years of security patches.
10:11Connectivity-wise, both phones provide
10:13all the essentials: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth
10:166, and NFC. Only the Phone 3 has eSIM
10:19support, but only the F7 Ultra has an IR
10:22blaster. In this area, the point
10:24definitely goes to the Nothing Phone 3,
10:26thanks to its cleaner software
10:27experience and longer updates. So,
10:30finally, let’s talk about the price.
10:32With a starting price of 44,999,
10:35it’s a bit of a hard pill to swallow for
10:37something that’s marketed as a true
10:39flagship, but not quite flagship in
10:41terms of specs. Still, based on our
10:43findings, the Nothing Phone 3 comes out
10:45ahead thanks to better software, a
10:47superior set of cameras, and a quirky
10:50design that stands out. So, while it
10:52lacks some of the features found in top
10:53tier flagships, the Phone 3 still
10:56manages to deliver a solid near flagship
10:58experience. The Poco F7 Ultra’s drum
11:01card is without a doubt its incredible
11:03value for money. Starting at just 34,999
11:07pesos, it packs the latest Snapdragon 8
11:09Elite, a capable set of cameras, and
11:11delivers an overall solid experience
11:13without hurting your wallet. It’s easily
11:16one of the top recommendations at this
11:17price point. So, if you want a phone
11:19that doubles as a conversation starter
11:21with its unique design, great cameras,
11:23clean software, then the Nothing Phone 3
11:26is a great choice. But if you’re all
11:28about value and want the best
11:29performance possible for significantly
11:31less, the PO F7 Ultra is the one to go
11:34for. Ultimately, the choice is yours.
11:37But hey, what do you guys think of this
11:39comparison between the Nothing Phone 3
11:41versus the Poco F7 Ultra? Are you team
11:43nothing or team Poco? At least in this
