0:00This is the Tecno Pova Curve 2. A slim
0:03and lightweight phone, and yet this guy
0:05packs a massive 8,000 mA hour capacity.
0:09That’s just one of the many great
0:10aspects of this phone that we like so
0:13far. There’s the display, improved
0:15connectivity, the unique design, and
0:17we’re going to talk all about it in this
0:19video. I’m your host CJ, and without
0:21further ado, roll that intro.
0:27Right off the bat, probably the best
0:28thing about the Pova Curve 2 is large
0:31battery capacity. This thing barely
0:33measures 8 mm, and yet Tecno was able to
0:36throw in an 8,000 mA hour battery
0:39inside. We ran the tests, and the phone
0:41was able to achieve 19 hours and 35
0:43minutes of battery life in our PC Mark
0:45test. That’s already a solid result.
0:47It’s even better on typical usage,
0:50comfortably lasting us for more than 2
0:51days before charging. Charging is also
0:54quick, thanks to the 45 watts charging
0:56that refills the battery by 50% 36
0:59minutes, and 100% in a little over an
1:02hour. And with reverse wired charging
1:03support, it also doubles as an emergency
1:06power bank to charge my other devices
1:08and accessories. Not to mention, there’s
1:10also bypass charging, which is great for
1:12those long gaming sessions. For those
1:14who didn’t know, bypass charging allows
1:16the phone to directly draw power from
1:18the wall charger, rather than using the
1:20battery. This leads to less battery
1:22degradation over time. So, even after
1:24years of usage, its battery health
1:26remains near to full capacity, which I
1:28think is great for those who’d like to
1:30keep using their phones for several
1:31years. Now, performance is something
1:34Tecno doesn’t really skimp on,
1:36especially for a Pova series smartphone
1:38such as this. Under the hood, the Pova
1:40Curve 2 is equipped with the Dimensity
1:427100 chipset, along with 8 GB of RAM and
1:45256 GB of internal storage. Taking a
1:48look at our benchmarks, the phone was
1:50able to hit almost 830K in AnTuTu
1:52version 11, and that already gives us an
1:55idea as to how it performs. Navigating
1:58around this fairly smooth and
1:59responsive, you can do a decent amount
2:00of multi-tasking and gaming is also
2:03pretty good. Playing mobile games like
2:05Mobile Legends, the phone was
2:06surprisingly able to hit 120 frames per
2:08second or 120 FPS consistently
2:11throughout matches and there was no
2:13obvious stutters even during clashes.
2:15For shooter games like Call of Duty
2:17Mobile, we’re getting at least 90 FPS on
2:20low graphics Battle Royale mode, which
2:22is still smooth regardless. And if
2:24you’re gaming on the go, this phone has
2:26you covered with a more reliable network
2:28and signal reception, which we’ll talk
2:30about next. The Pova Curve 2 has these
2:33dual signal chips designed to boost
2:35signal reception for Wi-Fi and network
2:37connectivity. Tecno says that the Wi-Fi
2:39chip brings stronger Wi-Fi reception by
2:4260% and the G1 chip boost signal
2:44reception by a whopping 200%. In our
2:47experience, there’s definitely truth in
2:49those claims. For one, we can reliably
2:52connect to mobile data inside our office
2:55where in our personal phones struggle to
2:56have proper connection. We mostly rely
2:59on fiber internet, so this is actually
3:01useful for someone like us who
3:03constantly needs to have a reliable
3:05internet connection. And second, it’s
3:08even more useful for when working
3:09outside, so it’s going to come in handy
3:11as a mobile hotspot for your laptop or
3:14whatnot. Now, another thing we like
3:16doing on the go is watching content and
3:18on that note, the Pova Curve 2 delivers.
3:21It’s with the 6.78 inch curved AMOLED
3:24display and the name rocking a smooth
3:26144 hertz refresh rate. Watching movies,
3:29YouTube, or doom scrolling on socials
3:31has been an enjoyable experience.
3:33There’s even Dolby Atmos support
3:35improving audio quality. While most of
3:37you may prefer a flat screen, that’s
3:39fair. The curved display here isn’t
3:41really distracting. It just adds a more
3:43comfortable grip in the hand since the
3:45frame and the back panel are also
3:47curved. It’s also quite good at mistouch
3:50prevention, especially on the edges.
3:52Speaking of the back panel, we can’t
3:55ignore that unique, almost futuristic
3:57look. Tecno calls it the Interstellar
3:59Spaceship Design. And what’s interesting
4:01about it is the minimalist approach. We
4:03honestly like that. Our unit is in the
4:05Misty colorway. It really looks premium
4:08in our opinion. The triangular camera
4:10island layout works, which houses a
4:1250-megapixel main shooter and a
4:142-megapixel depth sensor, by the way.
4:16The subtle accenting on the edges and
4:18the Pova moniker look nice. And that
4:20little detail on the bottom right
4:22corner, it balances out the overall
4:24design. This phone also has some tough
4:26build quality to boot. It has a 5-star
4:29SGS certification for drop and bend
4:31resistance. And it’s also IP64-rated,
4:34offering dust and splash resistance. The
4:36display also gets a layer of added
4:38protection with Gorilla Glass 7i.
4:41And those are some of our most favorite
4:43features about the Pova 2. Curve
4:45So far, this is looking like a good
4:46option for gamers, power users, those
4:49who travel a lot, and even motorcycle
4:51riders out there. This large 8,000 mA
4:54hour battery provides enough juice for
4:55gaming. The overall performance is great
4:57for multitasking and everyday use. And
4:59the dual signal chip delivers the
5:01reliability that riders and travelers
5:03want when they’re out and about. So, if
5:06you’re looking for a smartphone that
5:07lasts, the Tecno Pova 2 Curve is one to
5:10consider. It’s been out for a while now,
5:12priced at 16,999
5:14pesos.
5:16But how about you? What do you think of
