Kepup W200 Smartwatch Hands-On

Choosing the right smartwatch for you can seem like a daunting task these days. The sheer amount of choices you have can make it difficult to choose the right one, especially with so many sub-par products out there. Let’s take a look at the new Kepup W200 Smartwatch, another wearable trying to vie for your hard-earned money.

At first glance, the Kepup W200 smartwatch looks like your run of the mill smartwatch. It looks like your regular rectangular frame smartwatch, the body is made of plastic but seems sturdy enough to stand a couple of bumps here and there.

The build quality makes the watch look premium, it’s not too heavy either as it only weighs 38g by our tests. The watch only features a single circular button on the right side of the frame which serves as a Home button. It also has a removable 22mm silicone strap which feels comfortable around the wrist.

The watch features IP68 water and dust resistance, which means you can use this watch in rain but not for anything more.

For the display, you get a 1.69-inch TFT-LCD touchscreen color display protected with 2.5D glass that blends nicely into the frame. For touch response, it’s generally smooth, but I noticed a couple of stutters every time I would try to switch to something fast. There is no always-on display on this device, but features a raise-to-wake gesture which is fast enough, albeit sometimes a bit too sensitive.

The quality of the screen is good enough. Using the smartwatch outdoors won’t be a problem for general use. Users may just have to crank up the brightness to the max when they are going for a stroll outside. Colors are just okay, nothing impressive here on this end.

The watch UI is very straightforward and if you’ve used any other smartwatch out there, it’s pretty much the same. It features music control, weather forecast, find your phone, heart rate monitor, sleep monitoring, and camera control. These functions work very well as per our testing.

The heart rate monitor worked pretty fast and detected my heart rate instantly. I also liked that it was able to track my sleep and tell me how much deep sleep I was getting throughout the night. You can also opt for notifications from various apps on your phone, and messages are generally very easy to see on the watch’s screen.

To set up the smartwatch you need to download the Kepup Wear app on your smartphone, available for both iOS and Android.

Moving on to the battery, the company claims that the Kepup W200 smartwatch can last for 7 days on a full charge with its 260mAh battery.

The Kepup W200 is a good entry into the smartwatch scene. It has most of the functions you would want and it does it adequately. Don’t expect anything out of the ordinary though, but for the suggested price, it’s not half bad.

The Kepup W200 smartwatch is priced at around USD 23.99 but will be available locally soon.
