Listen to article

Samsung is preparing its next major software release, One UI 8.5, and dozens of Galaxy devices are already confirmed to be included in the update rollout for 2026.

One UI 8.5 is currently in development and will be based on Android 16. It is expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 series early next year, followed by a gradual release to older flagships, foldables, tablets, and midrange Galaxy models.

What’s new in One UI 8.5

Samsung’s upcoming update introduces several visual and functional improvements across the system. According to early firmware builds, One UI 8.5 will bring:

• A fully customizable Quick Panel where users can move or remove almost any toggle or card
• A redesigned search bar moved to the bottom of apps like Settings for easier one-handed reach
• Improved protection for sensitive information when sharing images
• Updated Samsung Internet browser with smoother UI and performance improvements
• 3D-style app icons with shadows and depth for a fresh visual look
• New non-text navigation icons inside system apps
• Three new lock screen clock styles
• A refined Always On Display animation that starts from the exact point of touch
• An upgraded Galaxy AI Now Brief feature that doubles as a quick flashlight shortcut

A One UI 8.5 beta program is expected to begin in late November, followed by the stable rollout in early 2026.
