Anker has introduced a new 45W Nano charger with a built-in screen, but while it adds useful charging data, many users may find the display more decorative than practical.
The new Anker Nano charger, announced in January, is one of the smallest 45-watt chargers available today. Its standout feature is a small color screen on the front that shows charging details like power output, battery level, temperature, and charging mode. It also displays animated characters while a device is plugged in.
The charger works best with newer Apple devices. It can recognize select iPhones starting from the iPhone 15 and iPads released from 2020 onward. When connected, the screen briefly shows the device name before switching to charging information. For unsupported devices, the charger still works but only shows the power being delivered, without battery details.
Anker says the Nano charger uses a three-stage charging system to help protect battery health. It automatically adjusts power as the battery fills, moving from fast charging to slower charging. Users can also switch to a “care mode” that lowers power output to reduce heat, which is meant for overnight charging.
Users can tap a touch-sensitive area near the USB-C port to change display screens or flip the screen orientation. However, the display turns off after a short time and cannot stay on continuously, limiting its usefulness.
While the charger’s screen provides helpful information, most of the data shown is already available on phones and tablets. Without added features like charge time estimates or automatic scheduling, the screen feels more like a visual extra than a must-have tool.
