Over a week ago, I installed the WordPress plugin called Adsense Beautifier and implemented theme here on my blog. It wasn’t a new idea as we’ve already seen similar features done manually by other sites/blogs. I stayed away from such techniques because it was a bit borderline against the Adsense TOS. However, the plugin developer did mention that he consulted with Adsense Support if the plugin is allowable which it was.
So, I did a quick update and installed it to see how much (if indeed) it would increase my CTR and average revenue.
What I did was compare the last 7 days prior to September 3 (the time when I installed the plugin) and 7 days after that. The results were really significant and though I can’t post the exact figures, I’d like to share the improvements in percentages:
Adsense Type: Square Ad (336×280 pixels)
Ad Position: Bottom of each post
Channel CTR: 88% higher
Channel Revenue: 79% higher
Page CTR: 36% higher
Total Revenue: 16%
The “Channel” refers to the specific ad block alone and you will see the improvements in the CTR and revenues have almost doubled.
The “Page CTR” includes all other ad units displayed on the page. This allows us to see if the clicks were just re-directed from one ad block to another or if there was an over-all change in performance of the CTR on each page. Overall revenue on the page increased by 16% which is significant.
As I was telling people, ad optimization is both a combination of art and science. It’s not just a trend that you hope would happen and get better without you doing anything with it. You study it, take notes, analyse and compare the numbers then improve on them.

Looks nice
