The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) recently announced that on February 24, 2022, they have serviced the highest number of commuters since it resumed operations in the middle of the pandemic on June 1, 2020.

According to MRT-3, they have serviced a total of 228,213 passengers on February 24, 2022, which is the result of the increase in passenger capacity and faster train travel, and a higher number of running and operational train sets.

The train capacity was increased by 70% (276 passengers per train car, 827 passengers per train set) since the implementation of Alert Level 2 in Metro Manila.

MRT-3 said that there is a 17 to 21 average number of train sets running mainline during operational hours. The trains were also running at 60kph since December 2020, from the previous 50kph. The average headway or time between trains was also reduced to 3.5 to 4 minutes, from 8.5 to 9 minutes for 20 trains.

Meanwhile, the MRT-3 is still enforcing minimum public health and safety protocols, including the wearing of face masks and prohibiting eating, drinking, and talking.
