Now Bar revealed for One UI 7 as Samsung’s Dynamic Island

Listen to article

Samsung has revealed that the Now Bar is a defining element of One UI 7. This is the company’s take on the Dynamic Island concept.

The company says that it gives personalization a new meaning. It will work by seamlessly integrating everyday actions and your most used apps on your lock screen.

As per the image above, the Now Bar is situated at the bottom center of the lock screen. It lets you control your entertainment, time workouts, get directions, and communicate in different languages.

It’s also an access point for “the most comprehensively insightful experiences ever” on Galaxy devices. For example, it will prompt you to make a folder of essential apps for quick access. It takes note of your upcoming plans, like a flight or a road trip.

It’ll work by informing you when to leave for the airport. It can also curate a playlist for you to set the mood for your flight. However, apps supporting the Now Bar have yet to be named.

While Google has been doing semblances of what the Now Bar offers successfully for many years on Android devices, we’ll have to wait and see how Samsung’s alternative plays out.

Notably, Samsung’s One UI 7 based on Android 15 is now in its beta testing phase. So, we’ll have to sit tight and see what else the company reveals before the update launches.

that’s not a dynamic island. the dynamic island is called a dynamic island because it hides the cam and facial IR sensors of the iphone while making that area usable by growing it, this isn’t doing the same it’s just a special bubble at the bottom screen. and only appears at the lock screen not during system navigation, so it serves a very different purpose, something like a cleaner notification presensation of some sorts
