Apple is reportedly in early discussions with Google to bring Gemini AI into the next version of Siri, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Sources say Apple recently approached Google about building a custom Gemini model to serve as the backbone of a remade Siri, with training already underway on Apple’s servers.

The move highlights Apple’s struggle to keep up in AI. Google’s Pixel 10 lineup showcased “Magic Cue,” a feature that anticipates what users need by pulling data from Gmail, Calendar, and even screenshots, something Apple’s delayed “Personal Siri” won’t match until iOS 26.4 next spring.
Apple hasn’t committed yet. Internally, it’s working on two Siri projects: Linwood, powered by Apple’s own models, and Glenwood, which relies on external tech. The company has also explored partnerships with Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI (ChatGPT), though talks stalled over financial terms.
Importantly, this potential Google partnership is separate from Apple’s plan to integrate third-party chatbots like ChatGPT into Apple Intelligence. Instead, Gemini could act as Siri’s core intelligence layer, helping Apple close the AI gap.
CEO Tim Cook has already told employees that Apple must “win in AI,” despite arriving late. Whether that victory comes from Cupertino’s labs or Google’s Gemini, remains to be seen.
