Xiaomi Announces HyperOS 3.0 Based on Android 16, Beta Rollout Kicks Off

Listen to article

Xiaomi has officially revealed HyperOS 3.0, its latest software update based on Android 16, and confirmed the first wave of devices eligible for beta testing in China. As usual, global users may see some features tweaked or arrive at later dates.

The update brings a refreshed design with new icons, a redesigned status bar, and the introduction of Super Island, Xiaomi’s own take on Apple’s Dynamic Island. Much like iOS, it surfaces contextual info like ongoing activities, bookings, media controls, and more, but HyperOS keeps it pinned in the notification panel.

Other highlights include AI capability improvements and backend optimizations for better performance. Xiaomi also teased a new dialer app, though this may only apply to the Chinese ROM since global versions typically use Google’s Phone app.

In a push for cross-device integration, Xiaomi now offers seamless connectivity with iPhones, iPads, and Macs, allowing smoother data transfers between ecosystems, a move similar to Oppo and OnePlus.

The beta rollout begins on August 29 for the Xiaomi 15 Series, Redmi K80 Pro line, and select Xiaomi Pad 7 models, with more devices joining on September 17 and September 30. The stable release is expected later this Q4 2025.
