Samsung will manufacture Tesla’s upcoming AI6 chip under a massive deal worth KRW 22.8 trillion (approx. PHP 9.3 billion or USD 16.5 billion).
The South Korean tech giant confirmed the contract through a regulatory filing without naming its client, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk later revealed the partnership on X (formerly Twitter).

The agreement will last until 2033 and rely on Samsung’s upcoming semiconductor facility in Taylor, Texas. Musk said the new Texas plant would be focused on building Tesla’s AI6 chip, calling it strategically important.
Interestingly, the announcement comes just weeks after Samsung delayed the plant’s opening to 2026 due to low demand.
Currently, Samsung makes the AI4 chip used in Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, but its rival, TSMC, secured the AI5 chip contract. Musk said the A15 design was recently finalized.
As part of the new deal, Tesla will also be involved in the chip production process. Musk said Tesla will help Samsung improve manufacturing efficiency. He even adds that he plans to personally visit the site, which is located near his home in Austin, Texas.
