The South Korean tech giant confirmed the contract through a regulatory filing without naming its client, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk later revealed the partnership on X (formerly Twitter). Musk said the new Texas plant would be focused on building Tesla’s AI6 chip, calling it strategically important. Currently, Samsung makes the AI4 chip used in Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, but its rival, TSMC, secured the AI5 chip contract. As part of the new deal, Tesla will also be involved in the chip production process. Musk said Tesla will help Samsung improve manufacturing efficiency.
