How far can Digg boost your rank in PinoyTopBlogs?

Michael of Basang Panaginip got Dugged (2,921 diggs) for his entry on The World’s Most Photorealistic Vector Art. The same entry was also in del.ico.us most popular items (currently 63 tags). Technorati is also showing 42 new sites linking in.

In the last 24 hours, his traffic shot up to just over 200,000 pageviews from over 100,000 visitors. This has catapulted his ranking at Pinoy Top Blogs to #10 at the moment.

The Sitemeter stats graph below shows it all:

Sitemeter

Crazy, crazy traffic.

I got wind of this after checking Pinoy Top Blogs and finding the blog breaking into the top 10 practically overnight. At the same time, I am comparing stats as captured by his Sitemeter and that of PinoyTopBlogs’ tracker.

Some of you here may want your site to get slashdotted or dugg to boost traffic. Based on my research, digg and slashdot users are not Adsense goldmine and they are Ads Blindness. Although some of them will convert into a repeat visitors, but the none of them will bring you any profit. Small websites who does not own multiple dedicated servers can afford these types of visitors because they don’t pay $850 or more on web hosting. I would rather have a steady stream of MSN, Yahoo and Google search users then digg or slashdot users. This is just my 50 cents response. BTW, I myself is a Software Developer and never ever tried to click an Ads.

Yup, digg can really boost traffic overnight. The tougher challenge is maintaining the momentum or having people keepn on digging your posts.

Coolness. let’s try an experiment; I’ll post Steve Ballmer’s email to me(re: vista) on my blog (yes people, THE steve ballmer); post it to digg and see what happens.

DIGG is cool. I got dugg once (not my site, but a ForeverGeek post) and traffic was frickin’ crazy!

However, people looking for added adsense clicks are in for a disappointment, as DIGG users are mostly techies, and are likely to be adsense-blind. The benefit is mostly long-term, in terms of traffic and new readership. Here’s a post on Gadzooki (a site I used to write for) that has a good theory on the economic benefits of AdSense:

Still, getting dugg is cool! It’s something to be proud of.

hi. Im not sure how fast you could answer inquiries from members of your site. SO i am sending again this request to check why my site wasn’t part of the rest today — which you said previously that you’d include it. While others are already gaining hits, mine is still stuck….and knowing that I don;t get much every month.
