Starting a Philippine Blog Survey

I have been getting a lot of inquiries about statistics about Pinoy blogs and all I can point to them is PinoyBlog and PinoyTopBlogs (and ad hoc studies derived from them), which isn’t much really. There isn’t any other relevant research on the Philippine blogosphere either.

So, I thought I’d start one. With the number of member blogs at PinoyBlog and registered users of PinoyTopBlogs, I guess I can pull off a statistically credible survey (4,000+ Filipino blogs seems to be a good enough sample size).

Now, the question is “what important information do we want to get from this survey?” I compiled a list of basic info:

  • Year started blogging.
  • Reasons for blogging.
  • Theme/topic of blog.
  • Number of blogs owned or write for.
  • Blog platform used.
  • Free or paid hosting/domain.
  • Frequency of posting.
  • Amount of time consumed in blogging and reading blogs.
  • Uses RSS readers and what kind.
  • Monetization attempts.

Well, there’s the usual demographics of age, sex, education, location, etc.

What else?

Bikoy recently did a survey of his blog’s visitors.

You may also want to include the language bloggers use in their blogs.
