POCO F7 vs HONOR 400 5G Comparison Review

Listen to article

Smartphones are a hefty investment these days. Most of us use it for our day-to-day, which includes browsing, gaming, and of course, keeping in touch with friends.

Of course, there are other uses. Some other uncommon uses are for work and capturing moments with photos. That being said, we’re sure most viewers would prefer it if their investment is fruitful.

And that’s why we’re here today, we’re putting them both the POCO F7 and the HONOR 400 5G up against each other in this comparison review.

Both devices are priced under PHP 25K, which is a considerable amount to spend for your daily driver. With some phones feeling farther from reach due to price hikes, we want to help you find value for your money. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.

Design and Build

We start with the design of the phones. The POCO F7 has a radically different appearance than its predecessor. The sensors are now inside rather than protruding.

We recognize that some viewers may recognize this. It resembles Samsung’s recently introduced A-series smartphones from March quite a bit.

Our review unit had a two-tone finish and was black. The glass used to make the back panel gives it a glossy appearance. Although it looks fantastic right out of the box, viewers should be aware that it is also prone to smudging. At 215 grams, it’s also a little heavy.

At the front, we have the phone’s display, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Additionally, the phone is rated IP68 for water and dust protection.

The HONOR 400’s appearance saw a significant transformation compared to only its camera island. Previously oval in shape, the sensor housing is now a rounded trapezoid enclosure. If it had one fewer sensor, it would almost appear like a device from the Pura series.

Our review device has a fingerprint-resistant frosted glass rear panel and is colored Desert Gold. It weighs only 184 grams and has a strong frame, all of which are excellent construction qualities.

Lastly, the HONOR 400 has an IP66 rating. This means that it’s not good for submersion, just heavy pressure from water jets and hard rain.

We must give the POCO F7 this round based on our comparison of the two. Given that it has glass protection and a greater ingress protection rating, we believe it deserves it. However, the HONOR 400 would be the obvious winner if it were based only on appearance and possibly smudge resistance.

All viewers need to do is choose between a device that is more aesthetically pleasing or one that is accident-proof.

Display and Audio

Going back to the display panels, the POCO F7 boasts a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen that supports 1.5K resolution and has a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The Honor 400, on the other hand, features a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen that supports 2K resolution and has the same refresh rate. Stereo speakers are available on both devices.

Both gadgets can provide a fluid viewing experience. But with its somewhat smaller screen, the HONOR 400 seems more user-friendly. The asymmetrical bezels further enhance the experience, and it’s exactly right.

Of course, the F7’s screen isn’t bad at all. The direct comparison between using the two was simple, even though it too has small bezels. I only considered whether it’s simpler to hold while viewing, putting myself in the buyer’s position.

For audio, though, the HONOR 400 fell flat. It lacks depth and isn’t crisp to listen to. Although viewers can use it for casual listening, people who are picky about high-fidelity sound may find this to be a deal-breaker.

In contrast, the F7 is praised for its loudness and resolution. If a user blocks a speaker on the bottom, it also doesn’t actually block.

Again, this round has to go to the POCO F7. The HONOR 400 comes with an audio trade-off, while the F7 really doesn’t. It’s a bigger display, which some may like even more. Go figure.

Chipset, Memory & Storage

For performance, there is a clear advantage for POCO, considering it has a freshly released chipset. Powering it is a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 versus the HONOR 400 and its Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.

According to our standards, the scores have undoubtedly been reflected in the recent past. The HONOR 400 had an Antutu score of 850K, whereas the POCO F7 scored 1.8M. This is also true for storage, as the HONOR 400 has 96K and the F7 has 200K.

As the multi-core CPU score essentially doubles, the margin as measured by Geekbench widens. With a 10K score advantage over both OpenCL and Vulkan, POCO is definitely ahead in the GPU rankings.

Nevertheless, the significant disparity places POCO at the forefront of the comparison assessment thus far. Although both offer seamless performance, the F7 ought to be more enjoyable to pilot overall.

Cameras

On to cameras, both devices are equipped with dual-rear shooters. The POCO F7 has a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide. It also has a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. As for the HONOR 400, it has a 200-megapixel main camera with OIS paired with a 12-megapixel ultrawide. At the front, it boasts a 50-megapixel selfie camera.

Based on my experience, the photography capabilities of the two handsets aren’t all that different. For both phones, we have an excellent balance of depth, color reproduction, and detail retention.

On the other hand, the HONOR 400 does provide greater color accuracy. The F7’s shots have a tendency to be more vibrant, which users may not always prefer. In essence, the F7 has an unnecessary beauty filter.

POCO’s selfies are one of its most notable features. It provides good subject separation with background blur or bokeh, as you can see. Likewise, when utilizing the primary camera, this is more noticeable for the HONOR 400.

Because of how much smoother the HONOR 400’s picture processing feels, we’ve generally grown to like it better. It does use AI to enhance photos, to be sure.

However, it’s not a terrible thing if it makes photography as easy as possible! For those who want to capture lots of pictures without worrying about editing, this should be great.

This also applies to selfies, where the HONOR 400 once again wins out. In this head-to-head comparison, this gives it a well-earned point.

OS, Connectivity and Features

Next, Xiaomi HyperOS 2 is pre-installed on the POCO F7. In the meantime, MagicOS 9 powers the HONOR 400. The user interfaces of both software skins are visually appealing. However, because they have just lately begun to ratchet up the integration of AI elements, they are difficult to pick up.

Conversation translators, Circle to Search, and AI Summary are some of the capabilities available on smartphones. Additionally, both provide a few options for consumers to customize their phone experience. Unfortunately, as is typical with POCO and HONOR devices, both also include a ton of bloatware.

Both phones provide a reliable connection for connectivity via a cellular network or Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, GPS, and NFC are all supported by the F7. GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 6 are all supported by the Honor 400.

Given their similar prices, it’s good that both phones mimic one another in many aspects. But because of its better models for connectivity in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other areas, the F7 wins this round again.

Ultimately, though, this contrast may come down to a user’s preference for POCO or HONOR as a brand. To be honest, each round’s portions are too close together.

Battery Life

Wrapping up the comparison review, we have to talk about battery life. The POCO F7 packs a 6,500mAh battery with support for 90W of fast charging. This is a huge upgrade from its predecessor’s 5,000mAh capacity.

In contrast, the HONOR 400 boasts a 6,000mAh battery that supports 100W SuperCharge. Although it is an improvement, it is not as powerful as the F7.

On the other hand, you should never judge a book by its cover. Therefore, instead, we will examine the numbers.

The F7 gave us 16 hours and 20 minutes of uptime using PCMark’s Work 3.0 Battery Test. Although it’s mediocre for midrangers these days, this is a notable improvement over what the F6 could produce.

Of course, POCO has never been known to have devices with generally good battery life. We see the effort, though!

Meanwhile, the HONOR 400 was able to last for 14 hours and 58 minutes instead. This is a fairly average score, yet surprising considering its massive battery.

The POCO F7 is the winner of this round, although it’s really quite close. It appears that the HONOR 400 is never sufficient for either of these devices.

Pricing and Conclusion

Now that we’ve cleared the performance and features side of things, it’s time to break down the pricing and assess which phone gives you more bang for your buck.

Let’s start with the POCO F7. For PHP 23,999, you’re getting the base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage—already generous for the price point. But, if you want more breathing room, POCO also offers a 12GB + 512GB variant priced at PHP 25,999. That’s flagship-tier memory for midrange money.

On the flip side, the HONOR 400 5G comes in at a slightly more affordable PHP 22,999 with 8GB RAM and 512GB of storage as standard. There’s no 256GB option for now, so if you’re looking for raw storage and multitasking headroom, POCO takes the lead.

From our hands-on experience and benchmark comparisons, the POCO F7 edges out its rival in several key areas, performance, display quality, charging speed, and overall responsiveness. It’s a performance-centric device designed for users who want flagship-level hardware without paying flagship prices. With a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, 120Hz AMOLED display, and 90W charging, it checks all the right boxes for gamers, power users, and multitaskers.

However, that’s not to say the HONOR 400 5G doesn’t deserve your attention. It brings something to the table that the POCO doesn’t.  A more premium, refined look, better camera tuning, and a cleaner, user-friendly UI skin with MagicOS 9.0 on top of Android 15. For casual users who prioritize everyday photography, social media, and style, the HONOR 400 may actually feel more approachable and polished.

Let’s also not forget that it’s PHP 1,000 cheaper, which could be a deciding factor for some.

In summary, if you want the most power, speed, and storage for your peso, the POCO F7 is the clear winner. But if you’re after a phone that feels more lifestyle-oriented, with a cleaner UI and better camera output for daily snapshots, the HONOR 400 5G is a solid contender that won’t disappoint, especially at a slightly lower price point.

Either way, both devices offer great value. It all comes down to your priorities.

Honor 400 comes with 512GB in the philippines. It’s the only variant here. That part in the article where 512gb is not available is wrong. I just bought one. Please do a thorough research next time. You should be the reliable one for the specs
