Infinix HOT 50 Pro Plus First Impressions

Today, we’re to share our first impressions on the upcoming Infinix HOT 50 Pro Plus. This is the slimmest device tailor-made for gaming powered by a MediaTek Helio G100 under PHP 8,000USD 136INR 11,557EUR 130CNY 993.

Users will get the phone with an Honor of Kings (HOK) box sleeve complete with a raffle card and a QR code. Once booted up, users will find it running on XOS 14.5 based on Android 14. It even sports HOK wallpaper!

With its launch coming soon on October 28th, we wanted to share how good the phone fared on day one. The HOT 50 Pro+ is the first smartphone that’s equipped with this chipset under this price range.

However, it also has a lot more to offer. It has a slim yet durable build, an AMOLED display, and a 5-year TUV fluency certification.

Going into detail, it’s 6.8mm thin and feels nice to hold. It’s lightweight and easy to grip. We got our unit in its muted Titanium Grey colorway withwhat feels like a matte finish on the back.

As for the camera island, I’m not sure how to feel about it yet. It’s surely unique, but I’m not sure how to describe it. For now, I’ll call it a protruding stoplight on the back of your phone.

We found the curved display and tapered edges appealing. It was also a pleasant surprise that this is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass as well.

For I/O, you’ll find the volume button and power button on the right side. Meanwhile, the left side is clean from anything.

At the bottom, you’ll find one of two speakers, a USB Type-C port, and the SIM tray. On top, we have the other speaker and what I assume is the device’s microphone.

The phone offers 4G from dual nano-SIM cards. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5, GPS, and NFC.

Going back to display, this phone sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen. It caps at 120Hz and offers FHD+ resolution. From experience, it’s very smooth, clear, and vibrant. You can also find the front camera situated on the punch hole, but we’ll get to that in a bit.

Honestly, scrolling felt nice on this device. It felt like I was piloting a mid-range device instead of a phone under 8K. As for the multimedia experience, I was able to watch a handful of videos from my favorite YouTubers enjoyably.

The audio from the JBL-tuned speakers was great. It complemented the smooth display well, along with how easy the phone was to hold.

For optics, it’s equipped with dual shooters at the rear. Users will get a 50-megapixel main camera paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor with Dual LED flash. At the front, it has a 13-megapixel front camera.

Surprisingly, the cameras do well with just a bit of light. I went to take some shots with low expectations, but even the selfies turned out pretty well. I’ll leave some samples for readers below.

Under the hood, the HOT 50 Pro+ is powered by a MediaTek Helio G100. Our review unit has 8GB of RAM with 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

In addition, users may expand device storage by up to 1TB via its microSD card slot. Users may add more memory via virtual RAM expansion up to 8GB as well.

From experience, this phone runs smooth like butter for the most part. While there were no lags or slowing down through casual use, I hit my first bump in Genshin Impact.

Granted, I only got a hint of lag by bumping up the graphics settings to high. However, users can definitely play the game on medium settings reliably.

The initial synthetic benchmark scores had me puzzled. The phone was only able to pump out around 400,000 in Antutu. However, I think it should be around 600,000 considering how well the phone fared performance-wise.

Wrapping up, the phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 33W of wired charging support via USB Type-C. It even supports 10W of reverse wired charging as well.

Since we’re on day one with this device, we’ll update readers on how the battery life fares in another article. Overall, this is a very promising device that passes various segments with flying colors.

Admittedly, it’s been a while since an entry-level device caught my eye. I already have a handful of favorite features which include display, performance, and cameras.

I’ll get back to readers on more about the Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ another day. For now, be sure to check out Infinix Philippines’ Facebook page 46 and official website 50 to stay updated until launch day.
