Avita Liber 13.3″ Quick Review

With so many individuals having an on-the-go lifestyle these days, it’s no wonder that a lot are looking for a laptop that they can have with them wherever, whenever. Enter Avita, a new laptop brand that recently arrived in the Philippines. We took the company’s Avita Liber 13.3″ for a quick review. See how it fares!

Design and Construction

The Avita Liber we have here is in an eye-catching yellow with an embossed floral pattern on the lid. Seriously, the design is such a treat to the eyes. It’s not every day that we see a laptop that isn’t in a neutral color, and one that already has a pattern design on it. The body is made of aluminum and has a matte finish, giving it quite a stylish feel.

Opening the lid with one hand is doable but quite a feat to do so as the Liber tends to topple backward when done so. It’s recommended to raise the lid with both hands for this one. Once the cover is lifted, we’re greeted by a 13.3-inch FHD display with a resolution of 1920×1080. There’s a rather massive touchpad, an island-type backlit keyboard, and the fingerprint scanner located on the upper left side. Pressing down on the keyboard, it doesn’t give much of a bounce plus; it also feels quite mushy for my liking. The large touchpad is smooth to touch and produces a crisp click sound when pressed on.

As for ports, on the left side, we have a USB port, a 3.5mm audio port, and a card reader. On the right side, we have the charging indicator and the 2.5mm charging port, another USB Type-A port, a USB Type-C port, and a mini HDMI port.

Display and Multimedia

The Liber’s screen has rather thick bezels on the left, right, and at the top. The bottom bezel is even thicker than the rest. Despite that, the screen is pretty decent, given that, as mentioned, it’s full HD with a 1920×1080 resolution. Details are clear, color reproduction is sharp and vibrant, and the viewing angles are alright as well, making it good for viewing pleasure.

Speakers are located underneath the body of the Liber and while it may be ideal for a balanced sound, the audio quality is quite muffled, even when the volume is set at maximum.

Performance and Benchmarks

The Liber comes with an 8th Generation Intel i5-8250U processor, paired with an Intel UHD Graphics 620 and 8GB of RAM. It has Windows 10 Home as its operating system; it has the usual Microsoft programs (Office, Edge, Paint 3D) as pre-installed applications, and it also has a Game Bar. Tasks such as office work, browsing, file transfers, multimedia viewing won’t be much of an issue. One thing we did notice though was that once you open an app, the fan starts running with a noticeable noise along with it. We ran Geekbench and Crystal Disk Mark and here are the results.

On Geekbench, the Avita Liber scored:

As for the Crystal Disk Mark scores, the Avita Liber with its 256GB SSD delivered:
Sequential Read – 539.9 MB/s
Sequential Write – 509.9 MB/s

Conclusion

The Avita Liber 13.3″ is by no means a laptop to be overlooked. It has an eye-catching design, an impressive display, and an acceptable performance. It does have a hefty price tag of PHP 54,990 though, so it’ll be difficult to sell this to the average consumer. Still, do keep the Avita Liber in your choices as it’s portable and gets the job done.

Do you have a better brand or model to recommend with the same specs?
