The Google Maps has landed… on the blog.

Yup, you can now embed Google Maps into your blog, like the ones you normally do with YouTube videos.

So, whenever post directions on your blog, you can always accompany that with a map. Here’s a vicinity map to my house in Makati:

All you gotta do is browse the map you want to use and click on the “Link to this page” found at the top right part of the page. Two forms will appear — one on the link to the map and another HTML code you can copy and paste in your blog.

Complete instructions and samples here.

  1. Thought of doing a similar app a year ago. Good thing I didn’t cause here comes google doing the same thing.

  2. nice new feature ;-)

    I see bangkal st. How far away are you from SpareStrike Abe?

  3. hmmm… for some reason di ko makita… Error daw. maybe it’s blocked by our proxy?

  4. Sa Evangelista ka lang pala. Lapit lang ako, sa Cabrera. Recognized the area immediately! Haha :p

  5. @dennis, good thing you didn’t, sayang sana oras mo. :D

    @SBP, about 50 meters north-west of SpareStike. :D

    @Jon, yay! neighbor!

    @ralph, firewall!

  6. parang kita ko rin ang bahay ko sa mapa ah. :)

  7. Hehe, i was once hooked on google maps too, mapping out everyone’s addresses that I know. I’ll embed my address on my site too. Thanks for the tip!

  8. Hmmm, so I guess WordPress accepts IFRAME HTML elements? I haven’t checked whether the Google Maps HTML code will pass unscathed in LiveJournal and Multiply. Of course, Blogger, being a Google property accepts it. :)

  9. yay! this is nice. i’ve been meaning to write some code to use the google map API to document some of the travels I did here in Japan.

    Now it’s as easy as cut and paste :D

  10. wee. i saw you on tv :) WOW!

  11. yep, i see magallanes MRT station.. my favorite MRT station.. :)

    this is cool, now if you want to meet up with friends, you can post the instruction plus location on your blog. ;)

  12. @es-i-ow: yup, it was available before, they just made it way easier to do .

  13. Next… Pinoy Street Maps on Google.

    Wishing!

  14. @Miguel, it’s only a matter of time. Google just has to buy/license some local GIS’ company’s street database, and mapcentral.ph already has an online database (with a Web 1.0 interface–ewww). On the other hand, there’s OpenStreetMap (http://www.openstreetmap.org) in the meantime. :)

  15. Naku, bkt mo pinost ang mapa ng address mo kuya? After the Mel and Jay episode last Sunday disclosing that u r earning $5k a month, baka magkaron ka ng stalker! (Joke lang po) :)

  16. Ooops, Mel and Joey pala. my bad.

  17. sana google will update their photos of the philippines. most areas outside NCR are still blurred, except some parts of region 3 and 4A. even boracay doesn’t have clear close up shots yet.

  18. oo nga, come to think of it, trinoma’s still not on the map and even sm north’s the block

  19. Oh that’s so cool! I can now put maps on my blog too!

  20. I’ll still settle with wikimapia since the intricacy of the mapped version of google maps is still not that accurate.
