In my entry Blog Analysis II: Google Index, I discussed briefly the benefits of getting search engine referrals. I specifically targetted Google since a vast majority of incoming hits most of us get is from the big G.
Anyway, I found this Link Popularity Checker which can provide you with a good review page for a detailed statistics of your backward links for your domain in the most popular directories and search engines. The report includes Google, Yahoo, MSN, AllTheWeb, AltaVista, HotBot, Teoma, AOL, Lycos, and Alexa.
Among the list, I took preferential notice to the 3 bigger ones – Google, Yahoo and MSN, and compared the “backward link” reports among them for my domain.
Here’s what I got:
Backwad Links
Google : 720
Yahoo : 8,120
MSN: 4,258
Indexed Pages
Google : 20,400
Yahoo : 3,030
MSN: 3,383
Contain URL
Google : 22,400
Yahoo : 8,120
MSN : 3,350
Backward Links from Google are very low compared to Yahoo and MSN because Google doesn’t show links from pages having PR (see Google Page Rank) value lesser than 3. However, you will notice that Google has the most number of indexed pages which is good for getting high search hits.
