Laptops for home-based workers (under PHP 35K)

It seems like more and more people are looking at going freelance or working from home. The challenge, though, is getting a machine that is capable enough to handle tasks like handling MS Office, coding, basic video or photo editing, and heavy browsing. And then there’s the budget. In this case, we opted for a reasonable starting budget of PHP 35K. Check them out below.

ASUS TUF FX505DY

Sometimes you need a more powerful laptop not just for heavy workloads but for gaming as well. In this case, we recommend the ASUS TUF FX505DY. This machine has an AMD Ryzen 5 3550H process, Radeon RX 560X 4GB graphics, 4GB of RAM, 512GB SSD, and a 15.6-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The ASUS TUF FX505DY AL117T is available at PC Hub at PHP 34,190.

AGREE this should always be the top consideration for a working laptop. Anyone looking into getting a laptop for basic work/school PLEASE consider the 8GB of RAM. Had an upgrade from 4 to 8 GB cost around PHP 3K I think.

Does anyone know a store (within Metro Manila) that is open for today? Need to purchase MacBook pros for “work from home”. Preferrably with official receipts.

All these laptops are okay as long as you can upgrade them to 8 GB of RAM. IMO that’s a higher priority than having a 1080p screen or a discrete video card.
It’s 2020 now, 8 GB is the bare minimum if you want to do office-style multitasking where you open Office documents and browser tabs filled with email, live chat, video conferencing, etc.
