If you ever wondered what smartphone Bruce Wayne would be using then don’t look any further, the ASUS ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition certainly fits the bill and wouldn’t look out of place in his utility belt. This edition is inspired by the Dark Knight and it’s a pretty cool special edition to say the least. Let’s check it out.
Unboxing the smartphone is an experience already, coming in this huge box that would fit most, if not all of Batman’s equipment. Inside you find the smartphone, a Batman-themed case, a custom bat-shaped sim-ejector tool, an 65W charger, USB-C cable, and the Batman signal light that is powered by USB-C which of course projects the bat symbol.
Checking out the phone, it comes in a custom Batman themed black color with an RGB logo on the back, with of course the Bat-symbol. You also get the camera module housing a 50MP Sony IMX766 F1.9 main camera, 13MP F2.2 ultrawide, and 5MP macro.
On the front, we have the 6.78-inch FHD+ display (2448 x 1080) with a very punchy AMOLED panel. The refresh rate is extremely fast at 165Hz, perfect for gaming. It features a custom live wallpaper and lockscreen which is pretty cool. Everything on the device is customized, even the icons have a custom theme as well as the sounds of the device. Placed above the AMOLED screen is the selfie camera which rests on thick bezels by 2023 standards.
Below is a, now rare, headphone jack, the USB-C charging port, microphone, and if you look closely, the speaker cutout. You also get an optical fingerprint scanner that is placed under the display. You get stereo speakers on this device and they get pretty loud, and the sound you get is very detailed compared to a lot of smartphones out there.
On the right side of the device are the power/lock and the volume buttons. They’re very firm, tactical, and easy to reach. There’s also what ASUS calls AirTrigger 6, which acts like touch based shoulder buttons that you would get on a normal console controller.
On the left side of the device is a secondary USB-C charging port and your SIM card slot.
In the hands, the ROG Phone 6 is easy to grip and with the added bezels on the top and bottom, holding the phone for gaming was surprisingly easier because you wouldn’t have accidental touches on the screen. It’s tall, though, so you’ll need to reach a bit to navigate it more comfortably.
Powering the ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition is a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 5G SoC, Adreno 730 GPU, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB UFS 3.1 Storage. It’s a powerful flagship configuration and got a score of 1,109,312 on AnTuTu. For the battery, it has a 6,000mAh capacity with 65W HyperCharge.
The ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition is a pretty awesome addition to the sea of special edition smartphones out there. As I said earlier, it gets the Dark Knight theme just right, it’s not over the top, just perfectly subtle and stealthy just like how Bruce Wayne likes it. The ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition is now available at select participating ASUS/ROG Concept Stores and multi-brand dealer stores for PHP 62,995.
