New TikTok features let users save and watch content together

TikTok is rolling out Shared Collections, a feature that lets users organize TikTok content together in one space, and is preparing to launch Shared Feeds for watching content based on shared interests.

Shared Collections allow users to create folders where they and their friends or family can save videos in one place. For example, people can use these shared folders to plan recipes, holiday dinners, gift ideas, home design projects, or anything they want to collect and view together. TikTok explains that Shared Collections make it easier for users to stay organized as they discover and save videos.

Users can only create a Shared Collection with someone they follow and who follows them back. The feature is available worldwide for users aged 16 and above. Collections can also be kept private or shared publicly.

TikTok is also introducing Shared Feeds in the coming months. Shared Feeds will let two users view a custom feed based on their combined interests. The feed is created inside direct messages and will show 15 videos each day that match the users’ viewing habits, likes, and favorite creators.

Shared Feeds are similar to Instagram’s Blend feature for Reels. After watching the videos, both users can check shared metrics, like which videos they both liked. TikTok is also adding greeting cards inside chats, letting users send short messages with festive animations.
